TORBAY BARONS BASEBALL

The Torbay Barons were formed in 2011, where the club initially trained at Ilsham Fields in Torquay. As the club expanded, a larger ground was needed and the club moved to Clennon Valley in Paignton, where the club are still based.

The Barons played their first game in the Plymouth baseball tournament, along with the Plymouth Mariners and Guildford Mavericks on the 25 September 2011.

The Barons played a mixed Guildford Mavericks team, comprising of both A and AA Division players and held their own for most of the game, before falling short 11-6. The foundations for the club had been laid.

The Barons were one of the three founding members of the South West Baseball League in 2012, along with the Plymouth Mariners and the Bristol Badgers reserve team, the Bristol Bats. in two years the league has now expanded to six teams, with a seventh team from Bideford joining the Taunton Muskets and Exeter Spitfires, along with the Bristol Badgers, who decided to join the SWBL this season from the British Baseball Federation AAA Division.

The club consists of players from all walks of life, and from have had players as young as 13 years old, and over 50's representing the club, all with varying levels of ability.

New players are always welcome to come and enjoy some fun in the sun, whilst socialising and getting fit and healthy!
